Is there an age limit for playing?
Players of all ages are welcome at Keylock Games, and many of our experiences work brilliantly for families and mixed-age groups.
The person making the booking must be aged 16 or over.
Younger players are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult, and players under 12 must be accompanied by someone aged 16+.
Some of our rooms are more suitable for younger players than others, so if you're unsure which game would be best for your group, get in touch and we'll happily recommend one.

Wickford Main Car Park (SS12 9AJ) is less than a minute's walk away and is a good alternative. Please avoid using the Aldi car park, as parking restrictions apply.

No. Your escape room is completely private to your group.
We never combine bookings or ask you to play with strangers.
Our current escape rooms also do not use live actors, so once your game begins it's down to your team - with a little help from your Games Master when you need it!

How long does an escape room take and when should we arrive?
Your game lasts for up to 60 minutes.
Please arrive around 10 minutes before your booking time so we can welcome you, run through a short safety briefing and explain your mission.
We also allow a little time afterwards for a debrief and team photo, so we recommend allowing approximately 80-90 minutes for your complete visit.
There's no need to arrive very early - around 10 minutes is plenty.

Are the escape rooms difficult?
That depends on the room and your team!
Our games are designed to be challenging but achievable, and different people naturally find different types of puzzles easier.
Good observation, communication and teamwork will take you a long way.
If you do get stuck, don't worry - your dedicated Games Master is watching your progress and you can ask for clues when you need them.
Some experiences, such as The Ward, are designed to offer a greater challenge, while others are particularly good for first-time players and families.

If anybody in your group is particularly sensitive to darker themes, contact us before booking and we can help you choose the most suitable experience.

We'll always do our best to give you as much of your full game time as possible, but because another team may be booked after you, arriving late can mean your playing time has to be shortened.

Wear whatever you're comfortable in.
You don't need any specialist clothing or equipment, so comfortable clothes and footwear that allow you to move around easily are ideal.
Our puzzles are designed around thinking, searching, observation, communication and teamwork rather than physical strength. There may be some movement around the room and interaction with props, but nothing should require excessive force.
Fancy dress is absolutely welcome too - and it usually makes the team photo even better!
